Finally one of the most anticipated holidays of the year are here! This time of the year is Australia’s favourite after Christmas as it comes with a long weekend and this is when family and friends spend time together having all sorts of fun along with a pinch of spirituality. Yes, we are talking about none other than the Easter days!

Easter is meant to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Easter Sunday is marked as the most joyous event in the Christian calendar and why wouldn’t it be! It comes with many festivities such as Easter baskets, dinners and celebrations, lots of treats and chocolates, Easter egg hunt and much more.

Painting eggs, decorating Easter baskets, making candies, etc. are Easter activities that nobody can ignore, but you cannot ignore your pet’s health, remember? With all the celebrations around it is necessary to keep your pets safe. Let us help woth that! Following are a few important tips that could help you protect this Easter!

Easter perils- Safeguard your pets!

  1. Fake or real, eggs should be kept away from pets: Eggs are the most important part of the Easter celebrations. They are used in Easter egg hunting, decorations and in gifting baskets. People have their own choices of using eggs, some may prefer real while others may find fake ones better.  Whatever your choice may be, make sure they are not reachable to your pets. Plastic eggs may choke your pet  and the real one may upset your pet’s stomach severely. Also, if you decide to decorate eggs yourself then  extreme caution and solidarity may be required.
  1. Candies and chocolates are good distracters for kids, but for pets, these are just poisonous: Chocolates has theobromine that can harm your pet’s health by causing hyperactivity, seizures, elevated heart rate and death in case of large consumption. Candies, jelly beans and marshmallows have a sweetener that is plain toxic to furry friends and may cause liver and heart failure. So, it is easy to keep children under control using these treats, but it is advised to keep them away from your furry companions.
  1. Grass in your basket may be artificial, but the trouble that they may cause would be real: Unfortunately pets are not smart enough to understand what’s real and what’s not. Artificial grass if consumed by your canines or felines may cause serious intestinal troubles. Keep the baskets and the grass far from your pet’s reach to keep them safe during your time of festivities.
  1. Easter lilies- Beauty to our eyes but a peril for pets: Easter lilies are beautiful indeed, but are highly toxic for pets if ingested. Cats are especially in danger even if they chewed on a single petal of this flower. Make sure you keep lilies inaccessible to pets or maybe you could skip this beauty this Easter for your fur babies.

In all, we tend to get engrossed in Easter festivities so much that sometimes we may forget that all these things are not favourable for out furry pals. This is just a little reminder of Easter perils for all pet parents. Enjoy your Easter weekend and keep your pets safe!
