Stance Equitec Toxin Binder for Horses
Stance Equitec Toxin Binder is a quick-action, non-medicated supplement formulated for horses to bind harmful mycotoxins, particularly aflatoxins, in the horse’s digestive tract during periods of high contamination. It is designed to bind to the polar and non-polar mycotoxins, helping to remove them from the gut. Mycotoxins are toxic compounds found on the fungi that grow on certain grasses such as paspalum, rye, couch, weeds, and clover. Over 500 mycotoxins have been identified; they are more prevalent in hot and humid conditions like spring and summer and can also be present in some commercial feeds and hays. Stance Equitec Toxin Binder is formulated with Mycosorb A+ (a specific yeast strain and algae meal) which binds and removes mycotoxins from the digestive tract; Actigen, a yeast strain containing Mannan Oligosaccharides (MOS) that promotes the growth of healthy gut bacteria and immune function; and PowerStance®, powdered coconut oil containing lauric acid, which may have antimicrobial properties to maintain gut health, appetite and normal digestive function.
Signs of mycotoxin poisoning in horses can include itchy skin, hair loss, sores, stiffness, stringhalt or staggers, a wasted topline, a sunburnt nose, a persistent cough, odd sweating, a dull coat, greasy heels, spookiness, and dangerous behaviour. Mycotoxins may also cause mineral depletion in the body, low immunity and damage to kidneys, liver and reproductive systems, potentially leading to death in severe cases.
