Stance Equitec SandBuster for Horses

Stance Equitec SandBuster is formulated to feed horses exposed to dry or sandy conditions where sand accumulation in the hindgut may occur. When horses graze close to sandy soils or are fed in sandy yards or stalls, they may inadvertently ingest sand. While is does not cause a problem under most conditions, however in certain circumstances, it can accumulate in the hindgut, causing blockages and abdominal pain, especially when the passage rate of digesta (undigested food) is slow.

This risk increases during drought conditions seen in most of Australia as many horse owners feed hay on the ground (which is a healthy way for horses to eat as it mimics the natural grazing practice) but as the horse eats the last bite of the hay, they often accidentally consume some of the dirt or sand that is underneath. To manage this problem, horse owners should provide hay or feed off the ground, avoid overgrazing and use supplements like SandBuster that swell in water and assists the clearance of sand in the faeces.

Feeding Guidelines:

Feed once daily for 8 days once a month or as directed by your veterinarian.
It can be added to the feed or fed alone.
Always provide access to fresh and clean drinking water.
SandBuster can be fed wet or dry. We don’t recommend soaking it, we recommend feeding it immediately after adding the water so that the Sandbuster is still swelling and becoming sticky as it is fed to get maximum benefits.

Recommended rate based on a 500 kg horse
