Biogone

Biogone – Biodegradable and Compostable Dog Poop Bags

Biogone is an Australian-owned business based in Melbourne, Australia. As an innovator in landfill-biodegradable plastic technology, Biogone works with local and international suppliers to produce cost-effective landfill-biodegradable and home-compostable everyday plastic products. Biogone™ is a product range developed by FieldTech Solutions, which has been supplying environmental equipment for more than 20 years to the groundwater and contaminated land-related industries.

The company doesn't use or support ‘degradable’ or ‘oxo-degradable’ plastics, which feature fragmentable additives and do not meet relevant standards. Some of Biogone products are made from 100% recycled plastics and others with plant-based materials. They can be reused, and most can be recycled.

Dog waste bags are one part of Biogone’s catalogue. These dog waste bags are perfect for cleaning up your dog’s business while being a plastic-smart choice. All bags fit standard dog bag dispensers.

Frequently Asked Questions About Biogone

1. What is landfill-biodegradable plastic?

Landfill-biodegradable plastic is made by combining traditional plastic with an organic supplement that attracts naturally occurring microbes in modern landfills. This enables the plastic to biodegrade approximately 90% faster than conventional plastic without producing microplastics. It retains all the benefits of conventional plastic, including recyclability, durability, flexibility, and a long shelf life, making it a practical and more environmentally responsible option.

2. What are Biogone dog bags used for?

Biogone dog bags are used to pick up dog waste, perfect for waste pick up on walks.

3. Are Biogone dog bags scented?

No. Biogone dog bags are unscented and free from added fragrance.

4. What's the difference between landfill-biodegradable and home compostable bags?

Landfill-biodegradable bags are made from conventional plastic with an organic additive and are intended for the general rubbish bin. Home compostable bags are plant-based and certified to AS5810.

5. Can I put Biogone bags in my home compost?

Biogone doesn't recommend putting dog poop in a standard home composting bin, even in compostable bags. It suggests disposing of pet waste in a home pet-poop compost or the general rubbish bin and advises checking whether your local council's green bin accepts pet waste.
